Prof. Lawrence Krauss is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist. He is professor of physics and Founding Professor of the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, and director of the Origins Initiative, an interdisciplinary project exploring the origins of the cosmos, human life, human consciousness and culture. He has also gained an international reputation as the author of numerous bestselling books on science like The Physics of Star Trek.

In February 2011 an interview with him appeared on YouTube which he had given on the fringes of the World Economic Forum in Davos. When I first saw it, it immediately struck me that this was a person I should show one of OUBEYs paintings to and film the encounter.

And more than a year later, when I entered his office at Arizona State University clutching a painting by OUBEY in my hands, I instinctively knew how right my first spontaneous impulse had been. There was the complex jumble of equations on the whiteboard and the wall covered with countless framed awards and distinctions, but there also on the top shelf of the bookcase were the cardboard heads of the complete Star Trek crew, with Captain Kirk standing as a life size cardboard cutout in the corner of the room. Clearly I had walked into the den of a man with a free enquiring mind, a man who did what he found important, right and good and would never let himself be daunted and reined in by any imperatives set by conventional ways of thinking. In short, I had found an ideal place and an ideal “host” for this encounter with OUBEY.
