University of Hamburg About OUBEY EncountersPeople of the most diverse professions, generations and cultures encounter a picture by OUBEY, which they receive as "a guest" either at home or in their place of work. What they experience, feel and associate during this encounter is captured in a short film and made accessible to other people on OUBEYs web site. This results is a new field of experience in viewing art, which is completely free from all claims to expert knowledge. Anyone expecting a valuation or interpretation of OUBEYs art according to the rules of the art business, will be disappointed here. In the immediacy of the individual encounter there is no "good" and no "bad". There is only that which develops spontaneously, when a picture by OUBEY comes in contact with the eyes, the emotions and the thoughts of a person considering themes and questions that were also important for OUBEY and the process of creating his art. The "Encounters" films live from the astonishingly interactive quality that is intrinsic to OUBEYs pictures. They also live from the diversity and differentness of the people, who bring their own very personal perspectives and backgrounds into the encounter with OUBEYs pictures, coming to completely different insights and experiences through a genuine MINDKISS.
